Today we will leave Kerala. Our holiday is ending and we can look back on a time that we enjoyed really very much.
I am a person who enjoys his work very much. I have worked my whole life long and I work hard. Sometimes people have told me I am like a workaholic but whether this was meant in joke or seriously, I took it as a compliment. Actually, people who don’t want to work, don’t like their work or are just lazy would always say such a thing. I don’t have weekends in my usual rhythm, whether at home or when I travel, so every day is the same. And even though I work hard and many hours a day, I don’t get exhausted because my work is also my fun. What I do in the evenings, when I go to bed is to stop any thought of work and what I was doing and so I can perfectly relax.
In the same way we spent our holidays here, without thinking of work. Making a holiday is not only about not doing work but also not thinking of your work. We only had one computer with us and as you saw, we wrote the daily diary. This is not really work, though. Once or twice a day we switched on the computer and wrote to you what we were doing and what we were talking about with each other. Most of the time however our computer was resting as well.
I believe making holidays in this way or even closing the office and leaving work in the evening can become a form of meditation. If you have practice of meditation, you are able to focus and decide what you want to think of. When you are working, it can be your meditation as you focus on what you are doing. When you are off work, you focus on your leisure time only; you are not all the time in your mind in the office, with your colleagues and the tons of paperwork that still needs to get done. Through this meditation and focus you can not only close the door of your office but also the door of your mind to work related topics.
Tonight we will take a flight back to Delhi and will arrive in Vrindavan tomorrow morning. Many guests will be at the Ashram in the next weeks and we are looking forward to enjoying the time with them. Tomorrow I will write again about my life after the cave but in that time I will be sitting back at home in the Ashram.

It’s sometimes difficult to take a holiday and to remind yourself that while you are on holiday work should be left in the office…actually even now I am always answering emails regarding my work and so it’s almost as though I haven’t left work all together…in fact it is following me around wherever I go and I can’t really leave it behind.
