You probably heard already about the floods in Pakistan and how many people died, how many people have lost their homes and how many people now need help just to be able to survive. For some days it has now been raining daily here, too, and by the rain the level of the Yamuna river, which is flowing around Vrindavan, has risen and has already crossed the emergency level. In Delhi, which is further north and thus higher up the river, many streets are flooded. There are dams which hold some water so that the waves of water do not flow down and flood the rest of the country. However in these cases, when there is so much water already in Delhi, they release water to relieve the situation. And some days later, this water reaches us here in Vrindavan.
We have been following the news and heard that the levels are rising in Vrindavan. Today some children did not come to school. Purnendu, who had already expected this, went with Yashendu to their homes and saw that the streets in the area are already being flooded. The children had no possibility to come to school, they would have needed to walk through much water to reach here.
They showed their homes where the water is reaching the doorsteps and even flowing into the first rooms. Their parents looked worried and showed that they have already moved their belongings onto their roofs.
Upon seeing this, we offered the children and their families to come and stay at the Ashram for the time that they are in this situation. They can live here, we have enough space in the Ashram and the school. The parents hesitated and wanted to wait if the water would really rise higher. Yashendu gave them his phone number and just some hours later a mother called and asked if they could bring their children.
This is how we have another five boys at the Ashram tonight who play with the others and actually have lots of fun. The parents themselves wanted to stay at the home to see how the situation will change. However, if it gets worse, they will also join us here in the next days. I will let you know what is happening.

I’m really touched by the video clip. How great it is that you could give this help to the people. I pray that the flood will have an end now.
I couldn`t watch the clip. But the pictures I saw from Pakistan and Ladak added by your text tell me enough I guess.I wish you all the best!
