Tonight we will finally leave the Ashram in direction Delhi, to the airport, for our flight to Germany!
I am looking forward very much to flying to Germany with Apra for the second time in her life. If everything had gone the way it was planned, we would have been there already two weeks ago. Due to my ligament surgery however, we had to postpone our flight. I have to say that it was really the best decision we could take in that time!
Obviously, I am not yet fully fit. I am wearing a brace and I walk very slowly with a stick. I can walk without a stick, too, but if I tried travelling like that, I would probably reach the gate hours after the flight has left! But: I can walk, I can sit and even bend my leg. I definitely feel much better now than I did before the surgery. I have the confidence that I will manage the journey nicely. I know it will probably be quite a strain on my leg but I will manage by changing position often, getting up from time to time and concentrating on entertaining Apra – if she is not fast asleep.
Another reason that I am happy to fly to Germany today is that here in Vrindavan, it is now getting hotter day by day. I don’t really like the heat and although we have fans and air-conditioning, I don’t like this time of the year very much. I don’t actually like air-conditioning! So I am looking forward to German weather. I know, it can be still quite cold at this time of the year but there are all possibilities to keep you warm without catching a cold!
And then there is the silence! I really miss German silence sometimes. You cannot get this silence here in India, when you are not high up in the Himalayas or somewhere out in the far-away villages! We at the Ashram admittedly already are in a quite good situation at the border of town but you cannot escape the temple singing, when they decide to broadcast it via loudspeakers to the whole neighbourhood! So it will be nice to be in German silence again.
On top of all of this and foremost of all, I am looking forward to meet all my friends and German family. To sit with them, to talk and to enjoy the time together. And of course to catch up on work again after a quite long break.
Germany is my second home and I sometimes miss it when in India. So now, the last preparations and then we are off. Tomorrow I will write to you from Germany, after a super-tasty breakfast with fresh bread rolls!
