I wrote already sometimes about the change that has happened in Vrindavan and how Vrindavan looked like when I was a child. Of course there are so many new and more modern buildings that it grew to a few times its size and the telephone line and satellite TV were added to the ‘features’ of this town.
Now we are going to get another improvement: a sewage system. It is very necessary and of course it will be great but there is a long way to go from the idea and the plan until the completion of it. They started by digging holes in different places of the town. You may call it Indian style that they did that in several places at the same time regardless the difficulty that any traffic will have because of that. Many roads were already blocked and to get from one place to the other you have to take many detours.
This all is fine but four days ago someone who was digging a hole cut our telephone line and with the telephone our internet also was off immediately. We have a substitute, a mobile internet connection but it is very slow. Purnendu called the company to ask when the internet and phone line will be fixed and he was told that it will probably not be done until the end of the month and that just two streets further people haven’t had a connection for the last two months.
There are so many places where the line is damaged that they don’t even bother starting to fix it while others are still digging holes. So it is how it is, the infrastructure in India is bad, but people of course have to find other ways. In this way we are working, we click on a link in a page and until it opens we can get up, drink something, see what is going on outside and then come back to make the next click. This is how we are working these days. Some things take a bit longer and others will only be done when we will have fast speed again but the world doesn’t stop turning.
Today our friend Dagmar left the Ashram. We enjoyed the time with her very much and she had a great time here on her Ayurveda Yoga Holiday, being with the Ashram family, visiting Vrindavan and just being here. It was great.

It is very different from the US, because while we do work on lots of parts of a city at once “progress” and mobility is still one of the highest priorities so there are always planned detours for traffic and things like that. Looks like everything has settled in now though!
