How Technology has changed my travelling Life

When I yesterday wrote about travelling and technology, I obviously also had to think about my own travelling and how much I use computers and the internet – and how much impact technology had on my travelling habits and some other parts of my life.

Again I have to say, I love technics, I love technology, I love the progress of science that has brought us so many great options. I will first have a look at the way I booked my travels earlier and how I do it now. In earlier times you had to go to a travel agent, there was no other way to book your flight. You would go there, wait until the people who were there before you were done and could then ask him to book your flight for you. It would take time until you would have the confirmation – and of course he would take his commission, too! Today I sit here in my own office, just enter the dates that I would like to travel on into my computer and can even have a comparison of different flight prizes, non-stop or with several stops, from different airlines and all comfortably bookable from home.

The best thing with the internet is however that I can travel wherever I like and still keep on doing the same work that I would be doing at home! I could even decide not to travel and still work from home!

Technology has made it possible for us to build a website and spread the word that much that our Ayurveda Retreats and Yoga Holidays are getting more and more popular and more and more people come to the Ashram to relax here.

With my little daughter I don’t have to go on world tours now to give workshops, lectures and seminars. I can do it here. Thanks to technology.

At the same time we can still give valuable information on our website and help people who cannot come here, for example with our Yoga Pose Directory. Even if we would like to give workshops, we could do it from here – and people could participate just simply in their living rooms. The possibilities are there – thanks to technology.

There is one more, very important possibility that the internet has given us. Apra can talk to our friends all over the world and her family in Germany over the internet. She can see them and they can see her. Even though we will travel in future and they will keep on coming here, there will always be quite long periods of time in between – and babies grow so quickly. So until we travel again, they can talk with each other in this way. Again, thanks to technology.

My life has been enriched by technology and technical progress – and I am happy to say this loud and clear!
