Today is Friday the 13th, a day that is considered as unlucky in the west. I was not even aware of this fact until Ramona told me some days ago. When I got to know this, I looked at her and said: So you see, that is a superstition of the west!
I had known that superstitious people see 13 as an unlucky number. This superstition exists here, too. You have special rituals that you do no the 13th day after someone’s death for example. Ramona told me that in earlier times people believed there should not be 13 people eating at a table but always below or above that number.
So today those people who believe that it is an unlucky day simply stay at home because there are less chances for a catastrophe there. They believe you could have an accident with your car for example or your shop would get robbed today. Superstitious people must have felt confirmed in their views three months ago when on Friday, 13th January 2012 a big ship sank close to Italy.
The reality is however that today is just a day like every other. In India, nobody knows that today could be a day of bad luck for them. Everyone does what he usually does and nobody thinks he could fall down the stairs, lose a lot of money or get ill today. Ramona laughed because we even received two separate wedding invitations for today!
If it was an unlucky day, why would not everybody on the whole world know about it? I know that there are not a lot of people in the west who take such superstitions seriously but there are still some – otherwise this myth would not have survived until now!
This is just a proof that such thoughts of bad luck or good luck are simply a manipulation of your mind. It is a psychological effect which works for those who believe in it. If you believe that today is an unlucky day for you, I am sure you will trip somewhere, get bad news or see something shocking. You will be careful but it will happen nevertheless. The reason is that you are expecting it to happen and connect it with today’s date. If the same thing happened on a Tuesday 15th, you would simply not call that day unlucky but it would happen nevertheless. If you believe in this superstition, today will be a day on which you count each negative event because you think negative.
So I would suggest, just make this day a very lucky day for yourself and think positive. Count all the good things that happen today, celebrate the day and do something that makes you happy. You will see, Friday the 13th will become your day of luck!

What an uplifting blog. It is true, that people make it unlucky because they believe it will be. In the west people laugh at some superstitions you hear about other countries, and yet the same people would never have a wedding on Friday 13th!
Superstitions are so silly! You make your own luck from the way you behave and act. Good and bad luck don’t exit. Take each day as it comes, treat others well and you will have a happy life.
Perfect example for showing that such ideas are far away from reality! It is your mind’s mode of functioning. Whatever you believe, can come true, it’s so simple. You can decide if a black cat is merely an animal or the personification of the devil. And it’s the same with weddings on Friday the 13th. If you wish, it can be the happiest day of your life. It’s up to you – make a call 😉
