You know that you are in a Sect? – 6 Jul 08

I would like to tell you about a recent incident which happened last week. My friend Reinfried, who organized in Austria and who made the schedule for the healing sessions, said that a woman would come who had told him on phone that she spends a lot of time in India and that it would be great for her to meet me in Austria.

She came in the afternoon for a healing session and wanted to come to the Chakra Dance Party, too. After telling me her problem she asked me about my belief and also asked me what I thought of a certain organization. You know that I do not disclose anybody’s name and here I also do not want to write the organization’s name. I replied that I do not think anything about it. To this she asked: “Is it because it is a sect?” And I said honestly “yes, I consider anything which manipulates people’s minds as a sect”. After this conversation I started the healing session.

This woman wanted to join us for dinner and come to the Chakra Dance Party together with us so we told her a time when we wanted to start eating. Funnily enough she did not come at that time. So we started dinner without her and when we needed to start to the Dance Party, Reinfried phoned her to ask if she would come. However she said “It was nice but not really my thing”. We were a bit surprised but Ramona said: “Oh, but you know, she is in this sect.”

I replied: “No, she is not.”

“Yes she is.”

“How do you know?”

“She told me.”

As I normally have one healing session after the other Ramona welcomes everyone and gives a short introduction on what will happen during the healing session. In that time she had some talk with the woman and she told that yes, she was part of that organization. That was very funny to hear because she herself said to me, that this organization is a sect. She is fully aware of it!

Well, she did not come to the Chakra Dance Party, so she knew that I do not appreciate sects. I am happy about this kind of filtering because in this way people, who are not interested and who do not understand or cannot follow my philosophy are no longer with me.

Anyway I already talked about sects before and said that I do not like it because there are strict rules, you have to do things without your free will or your own responsibility and most of all I do not like it when sects create fear. Fear of life, fear of sins, fear of God. This is not my philosophy. I believe in love, not in fear. There is no reason to be afraid. Love is God and God is love

I like your philosophy very much Swami ji, and I agree to you that the sects are not at all nice place to be. They should be prohibited by Gov. I was devotee of Kripalu Maharaj, I was there for 2 years and in these two years all I learned about is not to listen anyone else, not to follow anyone else, not to read anyone else only to Kripalu Maharaj and we were told that he is Lord Krishna and if we ever get chance to get his sex prasadam then we will be Gopis and will get liberated. One of the young European girls told me once that she was taken to the bathroom and were asked to make him urinate and wash, wipe which was ok for she would do it an old person but she was shocked when she was asked to get naked for doing this sewa….. These things made me decide to leave that sect, which was also not an easy thing as I was told many harmful things can happen if I did that, so I just had to runaway from there without telling anybody. But now I feel so happy about it that I have left them but some how still I have fear of getting some harm from them.

Our minds can justify anything or turn anyone into an enemy.

Many branches of Christianity in the US could be considered sects. The evangelical christian community which makes up over a third of the US voting population is a group that I consider to be a sect and think would fit your definition. A general word that I would use for this is unconsciousness.

I don’t like sects either. They are impossible! You will spend all your life and money and it is all made up.

I was part of a sect before and I still have lots of good memories from it. I don’t think that all of them are bad, I left personally because I had a fight with the leader, but I loved it. If it had a different leader I would still happily be in a sect today I’m sure.

I don’t understand how anyone who knows they are in a sect can continue to be there. Surely they understand that their thoughts are being limited and their minds controlled? Sects scare me!
