Millions of Dollars for a Temple – In Front of it Children are Starving – 21 Nov 09

I saw some statistics on an Indian news channel on TV and I noted them down and converted from Indian Rupees to Dollar for international readers. I want to write them down here, you can have a look. I have heard before that this temple about which these statistics are, is the richest temple of the world. It is in South India and just by seeing these figures you can imagine how rich it is. If you go there for Darshan, no matter at what time of the year, you have to stand in queue for 5 to 6 hours because so many people want to go there.

India is a religious country and then people don’t even mind entry fees for going to a temple. Many people also donate their hair there which is then sold by the temple for making wigs or for other use. From this, too, they earn millions of Dollar each year. A lot of celebrities and rich persons can be seen there often. These are the figures that they told about:

In one year they earn approximately $120 000 000. In their bank they have $200 000 000. After all expenses they have savings of $40 000 000 per year. In one year they received donations of 350 kilo gold and 500 kilo silver. They had a special ceremony in which they offered 17 tons flowers and for that ceremony the entry ticket, just for seeing the ceremony, cost $100. One person donated a golden bucket worth $600 000. Another person gave clothes for the statue of God worth $800 000. Somebody gave a crown worth $9 000 000 as a donation. It was made of gold and diamonds. And all the donors are Indians.

I knew this was a rich temple but when I saw and heard these statistics, I realized how much it really is. Then I wonder who says that India is poor? When a temple has this much money and one single person is so generous to give this kind of donation, how come that 70% of the population in India lives below the poverty line? And millions of people don’t have food to eat, children are not able to go to school!

Why can this money not be used to provide food and education to those who need it? And why can these generous and rich people not contribute some bread for the hungry and some books for those who want to learn instead of donating golden crowns and clothes? I think God would be happier to see that his children are not hungry.

There’s a solution, but it would involve turning Indian culture on its head. The belief that one is in one’s station in this life because of deeds in a past life would have to be tossed. The belief causes passive acceptance of one’s fate rather than desire to do something about it. Motivation from within is always more powerful than motivation from… See More outside. And social mobility would have to be much more flexible than it is now. The caste system would have to be done away with morally and socially as well as legally. It would probably take more than one generation, because that kind of cultural upheaval would be traumatic to the adults in society. How and where would one start?

well, the rich elite, governments of the wealthy countries who also control most the worlds riches are also contributing to this problem actively.check out any info u can on illuminati NWO etc.what can we do when the powers in control do not have any care or concern for the poor?on the other hand the amazing powers of good in sociey seem to be waking… See More up and i really feel people are understanding that even a small contribution matters..even chosing to buy our goods from small local independant companies and not the gigantic international corps helps in some way too..
