Appeal to European Governments: help Refugees but say ‘No’ to Mosques and Religion! – 14 Sep 15

Two weeks ago, I explained about the tragic situation of refugees and thanked the people in many European countries for their warm welcome. At the weekend, we first read in our Indian newspaper and then in the German online news as well that Saudi Arabia offered Germany to build 200 mosques for the refugees there. In the same article, it was also mentioned that IS supporters in Germany already try to get in touch with young refugees who came to the country alone. This is the point where I would like to just ask the European governments and the German one in particular: don’t provide the space to let religion spread. It will only create danger.

I know that to some people this sounds radical or extreme. I also know however that a lot of people share this worry but hesitate in saying it because they don’t want to sound inhuman, they don’t want to sound like supporters of extreme right wing ideas, they don’t want to be lumped together with racists. But they worry because the IS has a growing number of supporters – and a lot of them actually come from Europe!

There are children, many of them born to European parents, raised with European, often Christian values, who turn to Islam, get extreme in their views and finally leave the country to fight a jihad, a holy war for a religion, a god that is foreign to their very own parents. They send video messages from Syria and other war countries, out of the middle of terrorist strongholds threatening to bomb the very cities they grew up in!

Boys and girls are recruited, brainwashed in this way – you cannot call it anything else – and pulled into this terrible war of religion. Teenagers of European families with no Islamic background, young men and women from families that seemed perfectly integrated and of course the sons and daughters of those families that live in areas where a big majority of people strongly believes in Islam and where nearly nobody speaks the language of the country they are living in. Next, they become recruiters themselves and try to win over their friends as well.

We have to take care that this terrorism doesn’t spread. It is a terrorism based on religion. I know I am not the only one who has these thoughts. We should help every human being, save every life we can and give them all the possibility to live together with us – but we should not provide the grounds for spreading terrorism.

We have already seen videos and photos of areas in England where believers of Islam live and preach their own rules. They try to cut off these areas from others in the effort of creating a completely separate zone where they want to implement Sharia law. They prohibit the open culture of that country, telling any woman in that area how she should dress and behave! I would not like to see any places in Europe where people claim to install Sharia law!

I am in general against religion, you know that anyway, and this includes all religions. I also know however that most people, at least in Germany, are not actually very religious and those who are, believe in Christianity – a religion that has recently not exactly been known for violent outbursts of believers in big groups!

And now Saudi Arabia comes and proposes something that seems like a very bad joke! Themselves, this and other Muslim countries which are so much closer to the crisis-ridden countries have not taken one single refugee in, even though the very big majority of these refugees share their religion! They cannot support refugees in their own country – but they offer 200 mosques to Germany!? It’s ridiculous and while I have read that German politicians are already criticizing this offer, I do hope very much that the official reply will be along the same lines!

I am fully against giving space for mosques to be built. In these mosques, there are always Islamic schools, schools of their scriptures which will teach this religion – and the contents of what is being taught are out of any control! How many times have raids brought out that in such places people were being hidden who were looked for due to their terrorist crimes? How many times have we heard after terrorist attacks that the criminals got their minds set against the country and the people in whose surrounding they were living, while they were in these mosques and these schools?

But then again, that is an appeal for the governments, for the people who can actually take care of this. For every other one, it is now mainly about helping human beings. So please, help these people as much as you can, wherever you can and in whichever way you can. Be human and treat each other just as that.

Just make sure that religion doesn’t have space to spread.
