Last week I wrote the recipe for a dish with broad beans. If you have some beans left after cooking that dish and would like to eat something different with your meal or just something to eat along with a slice of bread, you can try the recipe that I will write today. It is the recipe for Sem Achaar – pickles made of those broad beans. It is an instant pickles version, it does not need to stand in your storeroom for weeks before you can eat it. So it is a spicy addition to a great meal.

How long does it take to make Sem Achaar?

Total Time:
Ingredients
20 Broad but thin Beans
1 tsp Black Mustard Seeds
2 pinch Turmeric
1/2 Lemon
1/2 tbsp Mustard or Olive Oil
Salt according to taste
How to make Sem Achaar
You need to cook the beans lightly so that they get soft. Once they are, you take out the fiber from both sides of the beans and put them into a bowl.
Now you need to grind the mustard and then spread it over the beans together with the turmeric, the salt and the juice of the lemon. If you like mustard oil, you now add mustard oil or, if you don’t like the strong taste, add olive oil.
And that’s it! Yes, it is a short recipe, easy and quick and you can right away enjoy your beans in this way!
