Satyug, Tretayug, Dwaparyug, and Kaliyug in our Minds – 4 May 09

Yesterday I wrote about the yugas and that the scriptures explain a lot about each of the yugas. They even tell us exactly how many years each yuga takes. They are writing that Kaliyug started 5000 years ago and is going on at this moment.

I see these things in a bit different way, more in a symbolic way. I believe all these yugas are in the mind of each person. When a person is fully pure, his mind is in Satyug. If he is 25% black, he is in Tretayug.

He is the creator of his own world and can decide in which yuga he wants to live. For me these four yugas are four different levels of consciousness and everybody can choose in which one he wants to live. Your mind can even go through all four stages in just one day.

In the scriptures you can read that this world is only an illusion and actually a lie. And then some people say ‘well, then we have to use lies because this world is anyway only an illusion’.

Others think that it is anyway the time of Kaliyug, the time of 75% blackness, so what can they do if they do something bad, it is simply the time… This is not really my concept. It is up to you if you want to do good or bad, if you want to be honest or dishonest and if you want to say lies or the truth.

I appreciate that way of interpreting the yugas. I think I can see evidence of this in my own mind. I wonder which yuga was happening when this was written about first?
