There is a Sutra in Sanskrit which says ‘Aasha dukhasya karanam.’ This means: Hope is the reason of disappointment. It is true that we get disappointment because of our hope. When it is not fulfilled, we don’t feel good. I am a person full of hope but unfortunately sometimes I have to say somebody not to keep hope so that they don’t get disappointed.
But then there is another saying in Hindi: ‘Jabtak swasa, tabtak aasa’ and it means: As long as you breathe you have hope. I believe that it is very good to have hope. I am a positive person full of hope. And of course, if there is no hope it will be difficult to survive and be alive. You definitely need some hope to live. If you don’t have hope, then what is the meaning of life? This whole world and everybody is going on because of hope.
The other day I went to see the old man I wrote about, Helgas's father. And today she and he sponsored the children's food.

18Jabtak swasa, tabtak aasa 19. If a friend asks me if I think that there will be a nuclear holocaust I will say “I don’t know,” and I try not to hope not. This may sound funny but for me the process of hoping in this way is a defense against fear. Instead I take a breath and say yes to what may happen (this would not stop me from doing what is in my power to prevent a nuclear war). This breath gives me hope in a very different way. This hope is not based on my imagination or something that I cannot really believe in.
Maybe we could distinguish between hope and expectations… expectations lead to disappointments, but hope always endures! Even when every plan falls apart, hope will be found in the heart. I love this second saying: As long as you breathe, you have hope. Beautiful. And sometimes we feel like all we have is breath…but it is enough to have hope. 🙂
I really don’t want to imagine what would happen if hope wouldn’t exist. Life isn’s steady and sometimes we’re in a personal bad mood, and also there is a lot of cruelty in the world, many natural disasters and by mankind generated wars. It’s sad, but comes and goes. And to be able to go, all these negative things need our hope.
