New York – New People to get to Know my Way – 26 Jul 09

This is the fourth day that we are here in New York and we spent these days with relaxing, walking around and getting used to the city. As my friend Suann has made plans for us to have the first days for settling here before we really start work and meeting people, we also spent today in this way. From tomorrow, the beginning of the new week, I will start healings and meeting new people.

You know I am in this country for the first time, so I hope I will meet people who understand my way, my philosophy and the way of spirituality that I want to live because I have had the experience many times that people get attracted to me because I come from this background and culture and because of my outfit. Many are searching for a guru or master and maybe they have read a little bit about my former life or saw pictures.

One time someone told me that people see me like a guru because of my clothes, my beard and my long hair. But I want to live in my originality and as I wrote before, if I walked around in jeans and T-shirt it would be fake. I love my outfit and hair as it is now, as I am, although it is somehow specified as a guru outfit. Those who know me, come close to me or read more deep in this diary or on the website really know or understand the way I live and think. I openly say that I was living the guru kind of life, the life of a religious leader, until twelve years ago but after being in the cave I resigned from that. Since that time I do not consider myself from any religion. When somebody is looking for a master or for the traditional way, they get attracted but when they see that I am free of that, they get disappointed because I am not looking for followers.

I will meet many people in the next days and I hope I meet people who understand me and don’t get disappointed from my freaky way. I am not here in this country, on this world or in this universe to represent something, somebody or a religion and I am not here to spread or advertise any religious view or a specific tradition. But I am very open to go anywhere and meet anybody without any restrictions. I can go to temple, to church, to mosque or in a night club, I do not have restrictions. I am not a normal tourist who visits all the night clubs of the city and I am not a religious tourist who visits all the temples. I can visit a temple and also a night club.

Many people will come and meet me and we will see how many will stay. Those who get disappointed and for whom I am not the right person will not stay but there will be some who understand my philosophy.

There’s perhaps a tendency to feel comfortable when submitting your responsibilities to someone else, a kind of sheep mentality. The words “the lord is my shepherd” bother me somewhat.

Each man is responsible for his own journey. We all have one.

the LORD is my Shepherd…I shall not want….being led does not denote responsibility…or magically make the journey some other persons problem or mission….but Faith expressing itself through LOVE…..is a relational experience that comes from the Heart of GOD…….

I believe it is only a matter of time before you will continually attract new people into your life who love and agree with your new philosophy! If you manifest these thoughts, they will happen for you. And look! It already is… guests at the ashram (myself included), old and new friends, and new people seeking guidance and healing are attracted to your new identity and nature– we like that you don’t demand followers and abide by religious structure. Keep following your heart, Swami! It’s working!!
