Honeymoon Couple and Blog Readers – A wonderful Meeting at the Ashram – 10 Feb 14

Today a couple left the Ashram who is, in a way, a special couple for us: it was the first couple for whom we organized their honeymoon! It was a great pleasure to plan for them and then welcome them here at the Ashram, especially as they already knew about us through this blog.

The young man, Vinay, and his wife Subha are from South India, from Bangalore, where they both work in an international IT company. They got to know each other there, fell in love with each other, have worked together for two years and now finally married in January of this year. Last year, when they asked us whether we could plan their honeymoon for them, we were very happy to do so and designed a trip to the cold but beautiful North of India where they wanted to see snow for the first time in their lives.

We had suggested that after travelling in the Himalayas, they could come by at the Ashram on their way to Delhi from where they would take their flight back. They could see the Taj Mahal, the biggest tribute to love of all times, and also enjoy an Ayurvedic massage.

When they were finally here and we found the time to sit together, I was happy to get to know how deeply they had actually been reading my blog entries! We spent some time just talking about different topics, their own lives and mine and I felt how great it was to get to know someone who already knew me, my family and what was important in life to me.

For him, it was the first time in his life that he spent two hours only reading someone’s blog, clicking through the entries, reading different topics and thinking about what I had written. She told that they would both daily read and then copy-paste parts of the text which they liked, sending those excerpts to each other as their favourite quotations.

The young couple told me that I was meeting someone whom I have influenced with my writing. For them it was unimaginable that they would be sitting outside at ten o’clock in the evening, talking to the author of that blog, to the writer of those lines they daily read, just having a nice chat. To me, it shows again how great modern media, the internet, can connect people from all over the world.

Today they left the Ashram but we all wish this newlywed couple much love in all the years to come in their marriage!
