This morning we got up and the first thing we go to know when we turned on the computer was that the world’s most wanted terrorist Osama bin Laden is dead. He was shot by the American military and the American President announced it yesterday evening with much pride. One of his sons was killed, too, while two of his wives and six of his children got arrested. We saw pictures of how the Americans celebrated this event with much happiness. It is understandable, he is the person who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people killed in the attacks on 9/11 but also before and after.
Unfortunately this terrorism was started on the name of religion. Bin Laden started Al-Qaeda, announced Jihad, the holy war of Islam and successfully influenced the minds of many followers of Islam.
We know that it is not the religion of Islam that teaches war and hatred against Americans or the western world but only the fanatic minds of Osama bin Laden and his followers.
He however made religion the foundation of his war and terrorism, believing himself to be a religious person. This religious terrorist then brought an immense number of young minds to hate others so much that they even killed themselves as suicide bombers. It has given a very bad reputation to the religion of Islam and I am sure that there will be many Muslims who are happy, just like Barack Obama, that this man is no more.
Here we need to remember, however, that Osama bin Laden, the founder and leader of Al-Qaeda, has been killed but not his thoughts and principles. There are people who followed him and they are very much alive. For Americans it is an event to celebrate and be happy but the truth is that there are still so many people who have received the training to be killed. I read that Al-Qaeda followers live in 40 different countries around the world. Let’s hope that as many of them as possible are discouraged by the death of their long-wanted and searched-for leader.
Obama was proud to announce this achievement and he can be, because it took America, the superpower, ten years, billions of dollars and the lives of many men to find this one person.
It had been suspected for a long time that he was in Pakistan. Finding him there now, after such a long period of time searching for him, tells you that Pakistan has become a place where many terrorists go and live. And they don’t need to hide very much. He lived in a two-story house, not hidden in a cave, comfortable with his family and in close proximity to a Pakistan military base. If you didn’t conclude this from the nearly daily news of terrorist attacks and bomb blasts there, the fact that Osama bin Laden was able to live there freely and in this way should open your eyes.
However it is, I just have to say again that the religion of Islam has been abused by this man and is still being abused by his organization. In my opinion any religion can only be appreciated if it gives the message of love and of uniting everybody in humanity and compassion.

Well, it is really scary to think about what might happen and what they could do out of revenge. But if you think about where they could strike and start avoiding public places, they succeeded in frightening you. This is why I prefer to have a similar attitude to them: I don’t care when I die. So I don’t let them frighten me with their terror attacks!
I always hoped, that they will capture him one day and punish him for his atrocities. Now as they killed him, I don’t feel any happy about this situation. The feeling comes up, that I cannot be happy with the fact of humans killing anybody.
The world won’t be a better place now because all his hatred has been spread so widely.
Why was he able to recruit so many followers? What was the seed that lead to all this violence and terrorism?
And the billions of dollar that have been spent on this man-hunt and his ousting! The same amount of money for creating jobs for the arab youth to let them built themselves a decent life would have reduced terrorism more than this assassination. I cannot cheer into the killing of this man, even though he was a mass murder.
Very good point of view HC. Education and a good outlook on the future could make a change. And as I said, it does not mean that any danger is gone through his death.
Additionally the world has also seen pictures that prove that the American military is not always far from terrorism either…
I remember the reaction of many Americans after hearing about his death. There were televised broadcasts from New York City of people cheering, jumping, and shouting “USA!” I actually felt really embarrassed about it, among many other young Americans I know. Here we are, celebrating the death of someone because he has influenced death among “our people.” But this planet is all our people… why are we fighting each other? Religious affiliation should never cause violence and hate..this is just a scapegoat. There has to be a way to teach peace and love to all… the death of one person is still a death of “our people,” no matter where they are from. You can’t solve violence with more violence… Change is on the horizon.
