After the spontaneous program in Frankfurt there were one or two other places in my schedule that I had decided to visit and where I had some program. I also spoke on phone with the Danish couple whom I had got to know in Vrindavan. They regularly came to an Ashram in our neighbourhood and had come by at our Ashram several times, too. When they had come to Purnendu’s wedding in February, they had also invited me to come to Copenhagen some time. When I called them from Germany, they told me that they were at home in Copenhagen right now and that I should come if I wanted to.
I was free to go anywhere and just had the intention to do something useful with my time. I wanted to work and so, when they invited me in that time, I booked my train to Copenhagen for the beginning of June 2003.
Arriving in Copenhagen I was received with a warm welcome which I later learned to be a common attitude of Danish people. The couple whom I already knew also had three children, a son and a daughter in their early teenage and one son who had just turned adult. I stayed with them in their apartment in the center of Copenhagen.
Of course I got to see the city and I really enjoyed it. I knew it was the Danish capital and famous in Europe and so I was a bit surprised to see it much greener and somehow more relaxed than London, the other capital that I had got to know. How would I describe the atmosphere that I felt there? People were easy-going and really nice everywhere.
I also got to know some people more closely because my host family organized private meetings, individual healing sessions and counseling with friends and others. I met a lot of like-minded spiritual people there in whose company I really felt well. In order to get some more contacts and spread the word, they had also contacted a yoga center and had agreed on a kind of a deal.
It was a completely new yoga center and they were themselves looking for efficient ways to advertise their classes and studio. They wanted to organize my lecture there but before that we would have a photo shoot. I would do different yoga poses which they would take pictures of. They would get the right to use those pictures in their flyer and I could use them on my website. They would also do some advertisement for my lecture.
This is how it was done and this is how I had my very first professional photography session. I felt like a model, doing all kinds of poses in front of the camera. They had called a professional photographer and it was really a lot of fun.
The arrangement made them happy and me happy as well – they got a free model and I had another appointment at their place on the weekend for a lecture.

How exciting?! Copenhagen is such a beautiful city and you got to be a professional model whilst you were there too. It must have been so much fun, you look like you are enjoying yourself in all the photos.
This sounds great! I love photographs. Every picture is like a work of art. Of course, we will never be able to catch the reality in that way we experience it. You can’t take a photo of what you feel in this moment. But the photo will later remind you of the moment. Specially when you take a look at some photographs after a long time.
