Forget Financial Insecurity – God takes care of you – 14 Aug 08

Today one of my old friends called. We talked a bit and she told me that she had a big feeling of insecurity and fear in everything in her life, if it is financial, business, her relation, love or the family. Mostly however it is a financial insecurity. In her I see a reflection of the society. Many people are insecure about different things. It is a common problem.

I said her: “I have listened to this from you since years, about money and fear about your financial situation. But you see, you are still alive! You are not hungry, you are not dying, you are enjoying your life, flying on holidays or flying to see me. Somehow you get what you need, it is working. Then why do you live in this fear and under such a kind of pressure when you are the proof for yourself that even though you complain since years, you get what you need, you have everything.”

It has become like a habit, our nature not to be satisfied. Why can’t we keep our trust? I told her about a saying that we have in India and I tried to translate it into English. It comes from scriptures but has found its way into the language as a general saying: If you believe in God, He is looking after all of us. When we didn’t have teeth as babies, He gave milk in our mothers’ breast. And if He gave us teeth, why wouldn’t He provide food for us, too? Even when we did not have teeth to chew food and couldn’t do any effort to get food, could not do business and earn food for ourselves, He arranged everything for us.

This is the trust: When we were fully helpless, He took care of us and the milk was already prepared. Then we grew up, got teeth and He gives us food. We should bring this trust into our lives to take away the pressure which, I can imagine, is horrible when you get up in the morning with this feeling. We have to be thankful to our God that He provides us with everything. I believe in this and this is how I live. With trust in God and thankfulness. My friend has enough to eat, He takes care every day. It is the situation in many people’s lives. When they can bring this trust into their lives, they can be happy. After this talk, my friend was also happy, thanked me and said: “Yes, I just wanted to reassure. I have to bring trust into my life.”

I love stories of how God provides for those who have faith. It makes me feel like there is a purpose. It’s also one of the reason I love to give.

I’ve heard so many beautiful stories about God providing for those who give up everything, I just have to believe it is the right way to live!

Trusting in God ends up solving a lot of problems. It takes care of many irrational worries and fears. If we trust that God will take care of us, we can enjoy each moment in his honor and spread his love. I think that’s why we are really here.
