Today a woman was here for a healing session and in a way confirmed the things that I said in the Darshan yesterday. We were talking about identities and she said that we grow up learning a certain story how life should be. It sounds like a perfect story and we want to follow it and try to live it. It actually is a lie, this story can never happen but we try to fulfill it. We try to be that person although we know in beginning that it is not who we really are.
This person in the story, in this lie, is someone who doesn’t do mistakes and is perfect. And in trying to be this person, we make ourselves small and try to be as everyone wants. Slowly in this process the lie turns starts becoming what we live and although it is still a lie, we start thinking it is our truth. We get lost in this lie and want to protect it as our identity. At a certain age we maybe realize that it is not who we really are. But most of the people actually keep the lie because it is what they have lived with their whole life. They identify themselves with it and keep it like a protection around themselves. Please learn to see who you really are and honestly live it!
Today we had a Darshan in the evening and it was beautiful.

I’ve seen this problem as really obvious where i come from and I wonder if it is as much of a problem in other places. Before i assumed not but now that I think about it that must be the case everywhere.
I sent this article to a friend of mine yesterday and he send me this in reply:

Well said, Swami Ji. Our media, culture, and society often tell these fairytale stories of how life should be. We try and try to fulfill these roles but it’s impossible! I think it would help if parents started raising their children with an honest and open idea of how life goes. But it is very ingrained in cultural stories, which are hard to erase.
