Yesterday I wrote already about my idea that people should have other ways of communicating with each other than only words. We are actually doing that already. Sometimes it is a touch, sometimes it is a look in the other person’s eyes that tells you his or her feelings. This however works only if you show your true self!
If you keep on hiding yourself, a look from behind your curtain or mask cannot express your real identity either. And sometimes I feel that make-up is also one of these masks used by women for putting on another identity. You can use make-up to really give another impression of yourself. However if you ask women why they use make-up, you will generally hear that they want to look more beautiful.
I know that I have written many times about this topic and everybody who has read more of my diary knows that I always emphasize one point: accept yourself as you are! You are beautiful as you are! It is another way of hiding for me and that for no reason! We all are unique, there is nobody beautiful or ugly! Don’t use make-up trying to fit into a ‘mainstream’ ideal of beauty. The parameters of beauty are different for every pair of eyes. You can just be you!
If a woman has a lot of make-up on, I feel that she wants to hide a piece of her identity. She doesn’t want to show me who she really is. But of course, you always can see the real person behind all make-up, you can see the eyes through the mask and realize that the mask is not the truth. You realize it is not real and that will make you think why the other one wants to fool you.
Be yourself! I can only repeat this again and again. If you are not, the others will notice anyway. So there is no reason to try fooling them with any of your masks.
Today we said good-bye to Annick, Hans-Christian and their three children with whom we spent a great time and who will come and visit us in India soon. Another family who is already planning their trip is Regina, Jens and Celina, with whom we will spend the next days.

Yes, I’ve always agreed with this too. A lot of makeup does not improve appearance, just creates a mask. It’s better to use none at all. Those who use it should also be warned that makeup also often contains lead and other toxins that can penetrate into the body from the skin. Real inner beauty shines through, no need for makeup!
I heard that some make-up can even cause cancer. And it is so unnecessary in my eyes because natural beauty is always most beautiful!
I love make-up…I think that it is wonderful to adore yourself with colors and lashes and blush…I grew up in a school that did not permit this and it was damaging to my feminine- side. It took me a long time to learn to Embrace the Fullness and Choice of being a Woman and what this means. If I choose to wear lipstick one day…or blush or curl my eyelashes I feel this is wonderful and freeing…or if I choose not too…it is in the Choice here…that is important…The Main point here is to Love yourself with or without make-up and to feel good about yourself regardless…this topic can go further and further…with clothes, perfumes, jewlery etc. I said do what makes you feel good…and Enjoy…
Adorning oneself I believe is Ancient…and in all cultures…I would say let us Allow for woman to feel free to Explore All of Who they Are…on Multiple Levels…and if this includes some lipstick or blush, wonderful…♥
I believe that makeup helps women to increase their self-esteem. Many already feel pretty, her makeup just underscores the beauty they possess. Using a mild makeup and according to the biotype of the person, I see no problem. We do have that, besides worrying about the outside, taking care of our souls, our feelings and thoughts, for good, for joy, for peace.
This was a thought provoking piece. It resonated with my current makeup hiatus. Its a wonderful feeling to be free from slavery! xo
When Ia wear make up I just feel good about myself. I am not sure there’s anything wrong with that, I mean, i’m an artist. I just feel like a painting.
Dear Gail,
I totally see what you are saying. Make-up is like art… it’s another way of adorning the body (just like wearing jewelry, a bindi on the third eye, beautiful clothing, etc.). It is a way of accenting and appreciating the human figure.
I also see what Swami Ji is saying- that some people wear make-up to hide what they really look like. But I think it all depends on the intention. If the person wears make-up because she feels ugly and can’t love and accept herself, then this isn’t good. But if a person wears make-up because they feel special and wonderful in it, then it’s a lovely expression!
Thanks for your opinion,
Emily
Seems like fake self-esteem because it is a mask hiding what you really look like – what you were born looking like. If you enhance your attractiveness with make-up it really isn’t real attractiveness, it’s artificial. What you look like without make-up is how attractive you truly are. As a man I believe there is no way to get around this; I will eventually see you without your make-up on.. if not you are simply hiding.
