These days the Ashram is full. Additionally to the participants of the Ayurveda Yoga Retreat we have a group of 15 people from Taiwan visiting for a Yoga Retreat. A lot is going on, Yashendu gives morning yoga classes, meditations and lectures and I give lectures in the evening. About these lectures you will read more in my diary in the next days.
In lecture time I explained the group about the festival which is starting today in Vrindavan. I wrote about it a lot in the diary entries of the last years. In whole India it is on one specific day but in Vrindavan we celebrate it for five days.
I told the group that Holi is the festival on which you are allowed to do anything you want and nobody will mind it. I warned them that children are looking forward the whole year long just to throw colour on each other, to play and to have fun.
All school children were invited for today to play with colours at the Ashram. They all came at the same time that they normally do but they did not come in uniform today. Everybody was wearing old clothes that their parents had thought fit for this day after which no clothes will have the same colour anymore. First of all they got breakfast, Poha, which are rice-flakes and Suji ka Halwa, a sweet dish. With their mouth sweet in this way, they ran off towards the garden as soon as they got up to start the fun!
They saw the drums full of coloured water and bottles for everybody, also filled with colour. They started the game and of course our guests joined quickly to get full of colours, too!
