Yesterday I wrote that there are many people who have been disappointed by their gurus and lost their faith in things related but they keep on selling the same books, ceremonies, rituals and magic tricks simply because it is also their own business and they earn money with it. There are however also others who do not have any business but who still don’t leave their belief in fake magic tricks although they have left their guru. What is the reason for their behavior?
I have met many of these people and I have told you of them before, too. They don’t want to have anything to do with their guru anymore but they still say that he has some supernatural powers. They believe he is fraud and wrong but they also show others that they believe in the magic that he propagates. Why?
A very big reason for this kind of behavior is the amount of time they have invested into following this guru. There are so many people who have spent ten, fifteen or even twenty years with a guru, then get to know something about him or make an experience and realize that they cannot go along with him anymore. Then they are there, without the secure and safe community of other followers, and feel devastated. They feel as if they fell into a big deep hole and nothing makes any sense anymore.
It is a very bad situation for many and I have been in touch with a lot of people who have gone through this. Each of them had to start putting his world back together at some point. And none of them wants to feel that he wasted all this time! People come to me for advice and they cry, asking ‘What should I feel now? Have I wasted all those years of my life? I believed in something and now I find that it is not true!’ They don’t want to feel that they have wasted their time and this is why many of them accept that a little bit of it must have been true and right. They accept a part of the whole story and make themselves believe in Siddhis or magic so that they have the feeling that not everything is lost.
Please don’t think in this way. You don’t need to fool yourself now, just to feel better! It doesn’t matter how many years you have invested, they are not lost! You have not wasted your time but you have made experiences, your grew stronger and now you know the truth! If you had not made this experience, how would you know the truth today? Accept the truth and be honest about it. Those years made you grow.
We have a saying in Hindi which would translate to: “Whenever you wake up, it is morning.” This is what I tell everybody who approaches me when they are in such a situation. It doesn’t matter whether that is six o’clock, eight o’clock or ten o’clock. You wake up and a new day is there to live. It is never late and time is never wasted. Accept your experience and grow with it.

New chapter in life, challenges and lessons

“Whenever you wake up, it is morning”. This is absolutely correct. In my language we say “better later than never”. I feel really very sorry for all followers who believe in Gurus, Siddhis, magic tricks, statues etc. I myself was one of them but not many years. Books helped me to understand that it is something wrong with all these things. And later I found Swami Ji blog 🙂 it is enough to read books about the power of your subconscious mind, thoughts, consciousness, love etc and you realize very quickly that nobody cannot change your life, give you money, good job etc. We are creators of our own life and happiness. In previous blog was written that in India non educated people believe in tricks but in Western it is educated people and with big money. “Gurus” in Western countries know very good how to make money from all these followers. That is why all these centers I call sects. People become fanatic, they buy and do everything what say “Guru”. They believe that all these statues, malas, yagnas etc will help you to have better life. Followers believe that God needs wasting money on all this stuff. It is very nice Swami Ji that you help westerns to open eyes. Thank you very much. Lots of Love.
I guess I am one of those stubborn westerners who choose to believe in Siddhis whatever you say. Cosmos is so immense and number of worlds uncountable. I also believe that everything what has been named somewhere also has a form.
By the way all Christianity is about Jesus Christ who became known because of his Love and Siddhis. Jesus walked on the top of water, resurrected dead and healed sick. So,do you now expect a westerner not to believe in Siddhis?
This is a great point. No time is wasted because everything has a purpose in the bigger picture. I also believe that no mistakes are actually mistakes! We learn from them and they are important. And no matter when you “wake up” and realize it, it is never to late to start living the way you want to.
There is also Russian expression, that can be translated as follows – better late than never! As to wasted time I can say only that there is no bad experience, it depends on you, whether you can benefit from this experience!
Yesterday we talked with my Professor on the subject, what is the difference to do art therapy with patients in psychiatrie where I am now in praxis or to teach art to healthy people. I said for me there is no difference as healthy people may get sick and the sick ones get healed. The difference is in students attitude. The ones who consider themselves healty are more demanding and critical. The sick ones are more grateful, however one needs an experience to work with them. So I do not have any specific job profile, actually. Of course, most of all I love doing art myself.
