Sensitivity towards Feelings of Others – 29 Feb 08

I said yesterday that I will talk about our sensitivity towards other people's feelings. We are especially sensitive regarding feelings that we have already experienced ourselves. We know that energy, know that feeling. The atoms that we breathe in and out have energy. Due to this we can also feel the other person's mood. I will give an example for this: You go somewhere to visit somebody and suddenly, without really knowing why, you feel sad. Maybe you realize that there is no reason for you to be sad. It is in the energy. So you feel that something is wrong there. I had this experience several times. Just taking a breath in this atmosphere makes you sad. Five minutes later somebody tells you that something happened like somebody passed away or had an accident. Nobody told you but you could feel it in your heart. This is our sensitivity towards energy. Atoms enter your body with every breath you take. You don't have information through your senses, your eyes or ears, but through something else. It means the energy is reaching and affecting you. Maybe you take some time to make that conclusion, to realize that this is not your mood, not your energy but you can feel it. Sometimes when you are more conscious about your own feelings, when you are more concentrated and focused you can also figure out that something happened before someone tells you.
Today, after many years I went for a walk in Vrindavan, down to the river Yamuna together with my friends. As I already said, a lot of things changed. Vrindavan also grew bigger. A lot more people live here now. On the riverbank however it is still peaceful and calm.

On one hand, I firmly believe that you are responsible for your own happiness. On the other hand, I KNOW that other people affect you happiness. They don’t ultimately decide your inner emotion, but they affect it all the time.
