As I already announced yesterday, our team went with to provide medical help to the people of the flooded area yesterday. One family generously offered us to use their home and rooms and that is where we started. A doctor sat down at a table and a queue started to form in front of him. Men, Women, young boys and girls and many small children and babies had come to get a free examination and treatment.
As we had foreseen there were many patients with viral fever as it is monsoon time and the weather is hot but humid. They have not had electricity for more than 10 days and the number of mosquitos is increasing. Due to the current living conditions, in which hygiene is even more difficult, many of them also had diarrhea and skin problems such as rashes and boils. The doctor prescribed and his assistant right away gave the required medicine, injections, ointment or bandage.
Seeing this all we noticed that for many people there are some very basic things that could already help them such as vitamins, minerals and the regular ointments for boils and mosquito bites. We already decided that this will be our next project in the next week.
For the weekend however we still had another plan. We called the mother of two of the boys who are living at the Ashram with us at the moment. She still is there in the area and so we asked her to bring all the other boys’ mothers and they should all take their friends and come to the Ashram together. We had prepared clothes for them and when they arrived here we distributed them to everybody. For the boys we decided to make new school uniforms and so we had the tailor come and measure their size.
All in all it was again a very busy day but we are happy. In the evening we just looked at the boys’ faces while they were playing and they looked very happy and satisfied. They, too, are happy that we all help together and help their families and their neighbours in the colonies.
