Yesterday at 12 o’clock we welcomed the New Year outside. There was lots of fireworks and for me it was very cold so that I went inside the house again a bit earlier than the others. It was a nice start of the New Year. The first day of the year is also Mady’s birthday and she celebrated it together with the Ashram by sponsoring food not only for the children but for 200 people. Purnendu told on phone that it was a wonderful celebration. For welcoming the New Year the Ashram made a fire ceremony and thus asked for God’s blessing for the coming time. People see God in the nature and thus fire is considered as the presence of God. With everything that you start new you can make a fire or light a candle to ask for God’s help, blessing and guidance. The primary school also has got something new this year: today the principal’s office was inaugurated. At the Ashram there is always something going on and changing and I am looking forward to see all the change when I am back in India.

What a great photo of the fire and a great way to bring in the New Year, thinking of god instead of champagne! Haha, but champagne is also nice.
Awe, you were away! But plenty of celebrations the rest of the year for you to attend 🙂
