I already told you the news of what happened on my birthday, the 14th October. In my diary I wrote you how our plans changed, how we thought Purnendu had to get operated and how happy we were when we found out that this would not be necessary.
After taking the medicine the doctor in Delhi had prescribed, Purnendu felt much relief in his pain and so he, Yashendu and Ramona made a plan to give me a surprise party on that evening, the 15th October. The 15th October was a school holiday but fortunately the children of our school all live in the neighbourhood and so it was possible to invite them on short notice for the evening.
I was surprised when I saw the school children gathering at the Ashram in the evening. We started our party by having dinner with them. We all sat together outside under the open sky and had wonderful food.
After eating, Thomas and Iris entertained the children with some very funny clown sketches. The children knew their comical talent already from previous performances and love them. Together with Ramona and Emily, a volunteer at the Ashram, they sang a nice song for me.
I cut another cake which we distributed to all children before we started the music and everybody danced together and enjoyed.
It was a lovely evening and I really enjoyed my spontaneous birthday party. You can see pictures of the evening in our photo album.

This was a lovely evening indeed! I loved watching the children play outside and seeing how patiently they waited for the clown show to start. I was also touched to see Swami Ji feeding all the children bites of cake– just sharing love in this way. He even said that he thinks it is best to celebrate something in the presence of children; they bring so much delight and pure joy! I couldn’t agree more. 🙂 So thankful to have been a part of this celebration.
