We are on the road again. Actually, we have been traveling for the past three days! Right now, while writing these lines, we are on the way to Chemnitz and I am taking advantage of the time that Apra is sleeping. Looking at her, how she is lying in her stroller, fast asleep and probably dreaming of trains, Yashendu, Ramona and I started talking about how well she is doing with the many new things on our journey!
When we arrived from Gran Canaria, we first spent a few days with Sonja and her family, our long-time friends in Erkelenz. For Apra, it was wonderful to meet them again. Even if she doesn't remember much from last year's visit, we have been showing her photos and told her about it, so there was a memory and when she saw Sonja, she was very happy! Even happier when she could play with Carolin or their three cats!
After that, we returned to the place that Apra has accepted as her German hometown: Wiesbaden, with Iris and Thomas. It is really wonderful to see and hear even in the short time that our friends had not seen her, how much she improved her German vocabulary and grammar! They were so impressed by how she was able to express clearly what she wanted!
On Friday we then started to Kevelaer, where I had program in the evening. On Saturday, after another beautiful program, we travelled on to Coesfeld, one hour away. On Sunday we went back to Wiesbaden in order to stay there overnight and start today in the early morning. So tonight we will sleep again in another bed! And Apra? She is just happy!
We get out of the train, spot our friends – new or old – and Apra squeaks of joy, hides her face in a game behind her hands or waves frantically with her hand. She thoroughly enjoys this trip with all its stations, meeting everyone whom she had got to know at the Ashram or last year and playing with all their pets!
She is still not too fond of car journeys but she accepted the car seat and the time of sitting with a belt on as necessary. Nevertheless, she prefers the train where she can walk around, where different people come and go and where one can even eat at a table while driving! In this kind of occasions – at times that seem special to her, like when we are on tour – she demands extras: French fries, an ice-cream or sweet candy. A special treat on a day when anyway nothing is going according to routine!
Sometimes we make such wishes come true. But sometimes it is just not possible. In those cases, we tell her she will get her French fries and then give her roasted potatoes when we are home. 🙂
We are just happy that our baby girl is enjoying her time and is already getting used to traveling so much! And we know that the base of this is her happy nature and our love!
